Classwork and Homework

Alsalamu Alaikum,

Today we had a lovely day alhamdulilah!

 
Writing:We talked about the children in Syria and how they need our help followed by some journal writing on how we can help. Students also watched a short video.

Math: Math book pages 99-100.


Home Connection: Ask your child to retell the story on page 99 which was a bout children getting on and off a bus.  Use small objects to keep track of children getting on and off the bus.  have your child read the number sentences that help to tell the story.
page 100: Ask your child: " What do you like best about adding and subtracting?  Why do you think addition and subtraction are important?"

Science: Students presented their projects and we discussed the projects that were presented today. We enjoyed the presentations very much masha'Allah!

Students who will be presenting tomorrow are: Layan, Sarah, Hamed,  Shaymaa, Sajad, Hamza K and Khadeeja.

Art:  The students finished their place mats based on the four food groups.
Reminder: 
The deadline to donate for  our brothers and sisters in Syria is tomorrow, December 19. This is the least we can do for our brothers/sisters in Syria. Please send money, blankets or jackets. Talk to your child about how they need our help and the importance of charity. 

We will be having a potluck tomorrow inshaa Allah. Don't forget to send a food item with your child to share with his or her friends.

Classwork and Homework

Alsalamu Alaikum,

Today we had a wonderful day alhamdulilah!

Reading: Students sat in the carpet different or different reading areas and read books to each other.  I had a chance to ask the students to read to me the booklet assigned.

Writing:  Students wrote how to keep warm in this cold weather.


Science: Students presented their projects. Masha'Allah we enjoyed their presentations! We discussed the projects that were presented today. Students sat on the carpet and we discussed the connection among living things. 

Students presenting their projects tomorrow are: Ayaan,  Hamzah H,  Haytham, Maryam C,  Abdurahman,  And Yahya

Gym: Students practiced bouncing the ball and passing it to one another. 

Islamic Studies: We talked about the steps of prayer. We learned the different parts of prayer and the proper way to pray. Students wrote on a start the parts of prayer they do well.


Kindly note that your child took a note home today about a potluck we will be having with grade 1A on Thursday in shaa Allah. Students are looking forward to it!

Classwork and Homework

Alsalamu Alaikum,

Today we had a wonderful day alhamdulilah!

Spelling: Students wrote their spelling quiz. 

Library: Tr. Nancy asked students about their projects. Students checked out books from the library.

Gym: Students played People to People. They were divided into groups and they took turns to kick the ball to each other.

Math: 
We practiced making up addition stories page 98. Home Connection: Ask your child to tell you the story and read the number sentences.  Ask: " Can you think of another number story for 10?"

Science: Students presented their projects.They did a great job masha'Allah! Students sat on the carpet and we talked about the projects that were presented today. 
 Students presenting their projects tomorrow are: Maya, Hana, Mohamed, Mehran, Mariam E, and Alima.
            

Reminder:
  • Practice the song for tomorrow please.
  •  Read a story.
  •  Homework pack (due tomorrow)
  •  Please sign your child's spelling quiz and send it with your child to school tomorrow. 
  •  Please send the canvas, yogurt containers, clear cd case and skin colour pantyhose  to school with your child. 
  • Please send the rubric in homework pack # 9 with your child to school when it is your child's turn to present his/her project.
  • Send the Milk Program form if you would like your child to participate.

Classwork and Homework

Alsalamu alaikum,

Today we had a great day alhamdulilah!


Reading: I read " Zoom" and the students made connections.

Gym: The students continued to work on their four food groups

Math: I wrote addition and subtraction problems on the board and students took turns to say the answers. Yesterday students did a Math worksheet and they wrote down sums please practice at home as well. They coloured the picture according to the key given.

Science: We discussed the questions that we need to answer for our project about animals.  We talked about how to present our projects.

The following students will have their presentation on Monday 16th  Insha Allah are:  Mu'minah, Ibrahim K,  Ibraheem H, Huzafa,   Zahrah, and  Lamar.

Reminders: 
  •  Homework pack (due on Tuesday)
  • Story Log: Your child will retell Down to the Sea with Mr. Magee and you will write the details in the story log notebook.
  • Study for the spelling quiz on Monday. Don't forget to use Spelling City (test#11) 
  •  Please send the canvas, yogurt containers, cd and pantyhose to school with your child on Monday if you have not sent them.
  • Please send the rubric in homework pack # 9 with your child to school when it is your child's turn to present his/her project.
  • Our morning assembly  is t on Tuesday the 17th can you please practice this song with your child.
  • Send the Milk Program form if you would like your child to participate.

Classwork and Homework

Alsalamu Alaikum,

Today we had a great day alhamdulilah!

Writing: Students got a worksheet about adjectives. They looked at pictures and wrote sentences to describe the pictures using adjectives. Students unscrambled sentences and they rewrote sentences using adjectives.

Math:
 We are working on addition and subtraction now. Math book page 95 (Students are to write a subtraction sentence and they can draw counters to show their work.)
Home connection - Students will be taking their math book home today.

Islamic Studies: Students said some of the things that they need to work on improving in prayer.They wrote one thing that they will like to improve in and they will be writing what they are go at on a stars.


Reminders:
- Work on the project (Project is due next week inshaa Allah).  Some students took books home today so they may start gathering more information.

-  Students received a form for the Milk Program.

- If any of you would like me to buy any of the supplies for the art and science project please let me know so I can buy them all at once. For the canvas is $2.25 and the cd and panty hose are $1.00 for both.  Please e-mail me no later than Friday and send the money with your child.

Classwork and Homework

Alsalamu Alaikum,
We had a wonderful day today alhamdulilah!

Writing:  Today the students wrote what they would like to work on to perfect their prayers.


Reading log:  This weeks story is "Down to the Sea with Mr. Magee".  Please follow the instructions given in the reading log.

Science: We discussed  skills needed while students are given presentations.


Math: Students record subtraction stories as well as made up stories and showed their friends. page 93-94.
Home Connection: 
- Ask your child to tell subtraction stories about people in your family.  For example:  " there are 5 people at home.  When I go to school, there are 5 left.  6 take away 1 is 5."
-Have your child tell you the story he did in class. Ask:  " How did you think of that story?  How did you decide how many to take away?"

Art:  Students are making a place mat.Students are working on their food group collage. They cut out food from food flyers and put it under the correct food groups.



Reminders:


- Weekly homework was sent home today.


- Tomorrow is the last day to submit the Hot lunch form.

- Work on the project (Project is due next week inshaa Allah)

-Today students received a form for the Milk Program.
