Class Updates

As-salamu-alaikum wa Rahmatullah


Dear Parents,

I hope and pray that all of you are doing well, In shaa Allah. 

This week was wonderful alhamdulillah!

Students in the class have been given the responsibility to be recess leaders. A big Masha Allah to those students for doing such a great job.

Writing:  students had a chance to write in their journals about bullying using proper sentence structure.

Islamic Studies:  in Islamic Studies we have been reviewing the five pillars of Islam.  We are concentrating on prayer at the moment. Please help your child learn the Tashahud I will be asking them on Friday.

Math: 
We started chapter 9 " Measuring Capacity and Mass".

Students have been learning the new vocabulary.

Reading:  Students have been divided into groups, during reading time students are asked to read a book and are assigned various activities to correlate with the book they have been assigned.
Please make sure to always read with your child at least 10-15 minutes a daily.

Library:  Please make sure that your child returns their library books every Wednesday.
The public library books will be due during the winter break on January 4th, 2017.  Don't forget to return them insha Allah. They can be dropped off at any Ottawa public library

Science:   We are working on structures and materials. Students wathed a few videos about material and structures.
We  discussed what a structure is and gave examples of some of the structures around us.

Social Studies:
We have finished this unit and will be concentrating on Science.

Spelling:  Students will have their spelling test this Wednesday November 30th insha Allah. 
the words are:
     bat    hop   fun   dog   can    zip   book   gasp  heap

  • Please practice writing simple sentences with your child using the spelling words.  When printing make sure your child leaves finger space between the words and prints legibly. 


Physical education:  We have been starting our gym class with a warm up followed by an activity.  Students have been learning many of the safety rules for gym class and learning how to follow instructions during their class.  



Reminders:


  • The sk class is having their annual Toy Sale.  Please help out by sending any toys or books your child no longer needs or uses by December 22nd, 2016.
  • please have your child dress for the weather.  They should have a hat, gloves or mittens, neck warmer and boots and snow pants.
  • Always keep and extra pair of socks in your child school bag as they often get wet.
We will be having garbage free lunches every Tuesday and Thursday insha Allah.  The students are doing great masha Allah.

CLASS UPDATES

Math:  students just completed chapter 6 " Addition and Subtraction. 
  We will be moving on to chapter 9 " Measuring Capacity and Mass".

Reading:  Students have been divided into groups, during reading time students are asked to read a book and are assigned various activities to correlate with the book they have been assigned.
Please make sure to always read with your child at least 10-15 minutes a daily.

  • Quraan: Revise surat Al-Duha with tajweed rules.  Students will be having a test next week.
  • Nuranyah: Revise all the second lesson (الحروف الهجائية المركبة) from the paper sent with your child. Check You tube for pronunciation.

Science:   We will working on structures and materials. Students listen to the Three Little Pigs story and discussed the different material they used to make their homes and which worked best and why.
We  discussed what a structure is and gave examples of some of the structures around us.

Social Studies:
We have finished this unit and will be concentrating on Science.

Spelling:  Students will have their spelling test this Wednesday November 30th insha Allah.

Quraan: Revise surat Al-Duha to Aya 5, with tajweed rules.
Nuranyah: Revise all the second lesson (الحروف الهجائية المركبة) from the paper sent with your child. Check You tube for pronunciation.

Rubric was sent home, please sign and return withthe homework.

Class Updates

This week was wonderful alhamdulillah!

Students attended a school assembly on Cleanliness and we won the greenest class award. A big Masha Allah to all the students for doing such a great job.

Writing:  students had a chance to write in their journals about their families.  They answered the following question using proper sentence structure.
1.  What is the character of the Month?
2.  What can you do to keep your school clean?
3.  How will you do this?



Islamic Studies:  in Islamic Studies we have been reviewing the five pillars of Islam.  We are concentrating on prayer and wudu at the moment. Keep track of your prayers

Math:  students are 
learning about measurement using non-standards units of measurements.  we have worked in our workbook.
Page 45- 50  Students have been using different standards of units to measure different objects around the class and at home..
We will be starting Unit 6 this week. 

Reading:  Students have been divided into groups, during reading time students are asked to read a book and are assigned various activities to correlate with the book they have been assigned.
Please make sure to always read with your child at least 10-15 minutes a daily.

Library:  Please make sure that your child returns their library books every Wednesday.

Science:   We will working on structures and materials.

Social Studies: we learned about rules and responsibilities at home, school and other public places. 

Students had a chance to tell us about their families and what are some of the roles they have in their homes.
We have finished this unit and will be concentrating on Science.

Spelling:  Students will have their spelling test this Wednesday November 30th insha Allah.

Islamic Studies:  in Islamic Studies we have been reviewing the five pillars of Islam.  We are concentrating on prayer and wudu at the moment.

Math:  students are

Page 42- we compared different items according to their size.
Page 43- we used our foot print to compare different items around the class.
Page 44-  reviewed some vocabulary.  We also arrange the students in the class according to their height.
Page 45- students used a string to go around the class and measure different items.

Library:  Please make sure that your child returns their library books every Wednesday.

Quran Update



Assalamo alaikom dear parents,

Alhamdulellah, we finished suart AL-Alaq. The students had the chance to know the following:

  1. The revelation of this surah.
  2. Understanding the overall meaning. Specifically, the word (( Alaq)).
  3. How many names Allah SWT has. Mention some of them from this surah.
  4. Giving an example of Alla's vision power أَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ يَرَى (14).
  5. What are the manners that the muslim should apply when he/she reaches this sign Inline image 1 while reciting. 
  6. How many sajdas are in Quraan. Where is al-qibla.
  7. Apply an activity.
InshaAllah, we will have a test this week. Please, keep practicing with tajweed rules!
Try to read it from Quraan and pointing at the words to help your child reading independently soon inshaAllh. Some of the student already do mashaAllah.

Alhamdulellah, we have finished the unit of “Allah is the creator”. The unit words that we learned are:

The students should know:

-How to read these words.
Match the word with the correct picture.
Get to know the first and the last letter of the word.
I keep the Arabic books in class. Please, let me know if you would like me to send the book to home. Please, take the responsibility to return it back.




We started the new  unit ( Body Parts).Our goal  through this unit is to enhance reading, writing, listing, and speaking skills. This will be achieved through several activities: reciting beautiful nasheed , introducing new vocabulary, completing the missing letter in the words, and constructing sentences

Writing:  students had a chance to write in their journals about Kindness and responsibilities.

Islamic Studies:  in Islamic Studies we have been reading books to reflect on the past lessons.

Math:  students are 
exploring numbers from 1-30.  Students are printing numbers and number words.  We have been doing addition and subtraction stories.

Library:  students had a chance to go to the library and go over rules and routines.  Students are learning the different parts of a book.
Please make sure that your child returns their library books every Wednesday.

Science:  We are done for now.  We will be concentrating on Social studies.

Social Studies: we are learning about rules and responsibilities at home, school and other public places.

Spelling:  students have started to work on their workbooks we are going over the letters of the alphabet and phonetic sounds and recognising beginning sounds of words. Students will have their first spelling test this Wednesday November 2nd insha Allah. 

Physical education:  We have been starting our gym class with a warm up followed by an activity.  Students have been learning many of the safety rules for gym class and learning how to follow instructions during their class.

Class updates

Dear Parents,

I hope and pray that all of you are doing well, In shaa Allah. We had a wonderful week alhamdulilah!


This week was wonderful alhamdulillah!

Writing:  students had a chance to write in their journals about different subject.

Islamic Studies:  in Islamic Studies (taught in Arabic) we covered the following topics 'Allah is Our Great Creator' (Al-Khaliq, Al-Musawwir, Al-Bari)... We completed the simple phrase in Arabic 'Khalaq Allah...'.  Then we moved on to 'Searching for Allah' (Prophet Ibrahim's search for Allah)...  We talked about why Allah is not 'the sun', 'the moon', or 'the shining star' and how Prophet Ibrahim figured out that Allah could not be any of those things.  We used the phrase "Yabhat Saiduna Ibrahim ala Allah...", we mentioned that Prophet Ibrahim 'Khaleel Allah' (friend of Allah). Then we talked about the ones of Allah 'Allah wahed', by starting with the first of the five pillars of Islam... 'Al-Shahadatain', then we moved on to talking about 'Surah Al-Ikhalas'.  We talked about how Allah does not need anyone with Him.  'La ilaha ila Allah', 'Al-Wahd', 'Al-Samad', 'Al-Hayy', 'Al-Qayyum', 'Al-Aliyy', 'Al-Atheem'...  We talked about Tawheed (The believe in ONE God)Student got to reflect about "I love God, He loves me', why do we love Allah? Why does He love us?  'Limada nuhib Allah wa limada huwa uhibbuna'... the name of Allah 'Al-wadud' is what we focused on...  

Math:  students are

*I have noticed that some students are coming late to class, please make sure that your child is in class by 8:20am. It is essential that your child arrives to school on time. We start our day with a morning assemble where we reading quran, hadith of the month and important reminders.
