Winter Break

As-salamu-alaikum wa Rahmatullah

Dear Parents,

I hope and pray that all of you are doing well, In shaa Allah. Today we had a wonderful day alhamdulilah!

Islamic Studies:  students reviews the five daily prayers and how many raka's are prayed for each of the prayers.  We had tr. Dina come in the class and go over the step of wudu with the students.

Math:  students started to work on telling time to the half hour.  Please practice at home and do the home connection portion on page 222.

Classwork and Homework

Dear Parents,

I hope and pray that all of you are doing well, In shaa Allah. 
Today we had an easy day as most of the students were absent.

I have told the students that I am in need of a pet sitter for the winter break.  If your child is interested and you are willing to help all you need to do is send me a note giving me the okay.  You may pick them up after school tomorrow Thursday or Friday.  The students are familiar with the pets and know how to take care of them

        
Reminder:

We will be having an International Day tomorrow.  Students are encouraged to come dress with cultural clothes and bring some ethnic food to share with their class mates.  remember we are a nut free school.  I have students with allergies and need to know if you are sending items which contain milk, or eggs.

Classwork and Homework

I hope and pray that all of you are doing well, In shaa Allah. Today we had a wonderful day alhamdulilah!

Islamic Studies:  students reviews the five daily prayers and how many raka's are prayed for each of the prayers.

Spelling: students had a spelling test.   Please sign and return.

Health: students did an activity and learned about the benefits of eating eggs.

Reading:  students read quietly while I reviewed with others their weekly reading.

Quran: The students will be having a test tomorrow on all of surah al-Alaq.  Insha Allah they will be having an ice cream party afterwards.

Classwork and Homework

Dear Parents,

I hope and pray that all of you are doing well, In shaa Allah. Today we had a wonderful day alhamdulilah!

Writing:  students wrote two descriptive sentences a about a Moon Cactus Fae brought to class.

Math:  students worked identifying fair shares.  Please practice at home and do the home connection portion on page 215 and 216.

Science:  students watched two videos about plants.

Health:  I would like to thank all of the parents for the fruits.  Masha Allah we were able to make many different thinks with all the fruit the students brought on Monday.
We made the fruit rockets we read about but since there was so much fruit left over I decided to make other things as well.  Tuesday we made smoothies and Wednesday we made pop-cycles.  Students enjoyed all the different items we made in class and learned a lot as well.

Islamic Studies:  we read the steps of wudu and practice how to make proper wudu.

Math:  students worked identifying and comparing 2D shapes.  Please practice at home and do the home connection portion on page 212.

Spelling:  students had their spelling test today. Please sign it and return it. 

Reading:  students read independently while others read to me.

Quran:  the best recites of the month masha Allah were: 

             Abdulrahman, Omar, Youness  

                            Keep up the hard work!!


Reminders:

Please sign up for the milk program,  the profits will go toward purchasing items for our class.  Insha Allah if we have enough students taking part we will be able to purchase a carpet.

Reminders:
 Make sure that you child does not forget to bring the proper clothes to go outside.  Also please write your child's name of their clothing as there are a lot of items which get misplaced.

Mitten Clips

Assalamu Alaikum Dear Parents,

Just a reminder that the deadline for the mitten clips order is tomorrow (Friday 28th). The clips can be attached to jacket sleeves at one end and to the mittens/hats at the other end  to keep the mittens from falling and getting lost. The clips are $8 a pair and $4 for single clips (for hats). Please see the attached document for details and ordering.

Anti Bullying Week ( poster contest)




Bullying Poster Contest Rules and Specifications:
  • Eligibility: All Abraar School students from grades 1 - 6.  Posters must be created only by an individual Student.
  • Divisions: Posters will be judged in separate divisions for each grade level. There will be one winner per grade level.  The winner will be announced on November 28th, 2014.
  • Theme: All posters must incorporate BULLYING theme. Also include the Character Trait theme for the month RESPECT
  • Paper/Size: Any size is acceptable
  • Art Media: Crayons, cut paper, felt tip pens, markers, pencils, pen and ink, etc, may be used to create the poster. Wood, plastic, glass, metal, fabric, and felt should not be part of the poster.
  • Identification: Your NAME and grade must appear on the back of your poster.
  • Copyright: Your poster cannot include any copyrighted characters, such as those from comics, cartoons, television programs, newspapers, magazines, etc.
Deadline: Your poster must be turned in to Tr. Seher or Tr. Fatima by November 24th, 2014. If your poster is chosen it will be displayed around the school for the entire year. Posters will not be returned to students.

Reading:  students read their library books.  Students listen to a story on line " I'm a bucket filler".

Gym/Health:  we discussed healthy eating habits.

* Parent teacher interview confirmations were sent home today in your child's weekly homework folder.

* We have the anti-bulling week.  The students who are caught doing something nice will enter in a draw, they may also make a poster to enter the draw and win a prize.

Spelling:  students had their spelling test.  Please sign test and if there are any corrections do them neat and tidy three times each word.

Reading:  students read their library books.  Students listen to a story on line " I'm a bucket filler".

Gym:  students played freeze tag.

Library:  students took books home they will be due next Monday.

Social Studies:  We review what we have learned during our unit on " Rules, Responsibility and Relationships". Students listened to a story as well.

   DRA reading assessments to identify student's independent reading level will be taking place over the coming 2 weeks. Students will be asked to read a short story depending on their level and discuss the reading orally with me.

Gym:  Students did a warm up exercise and played a game chosen by the best behaved group which was group 6 masha Allah.

Reading:  I read a story about Remembrance day.

Gym:  we did a warm up and played a tag game.

Math:  we worked on page 85 making number stories.  Do the home connection portion at home.

Reading:  students read about respect.

 Students will need to bring their public library card to take books home tomorrow.

Islamic Studies:   Students are learning why we should all love Allah(swta). 


Library:  students has a chance to take a book home. Please make sure they read it and return it by next Monday.

Gym:  we did a warm up and played what time is it Mr. Wolf.

Math:  We started our new Unit on Addition and Subtraction.  Please sign page 80 and do page 83 if it is not complete. Do the home connection portion at home.

Reading:  students read individually while I asked other to read from their weekly homework booklet.

A big masha Allah to all the students in grade 1b for winning the salah cup this week. 











Reminders:
*  tomorrow is Toonie Tuesday insha Allah.

  Field trip form was sent home, please sign and return if you have not done so.  If your child does not bring it back they will not be able to attend the field trip.
